The Bee’s Knees…..6/2025
I was commissioned to create a bar top for my neighbors. The wood came from a beloved Korean Bee Bee tree in my backyard that much to our dismay was weakened by the spotted lantern flies and had to be taken down. One piece split off completely leaving the others far too dangerous to allow to stand.
When it bloomed you could hear the hum of the bees from my deck and if you stood under it, you could feel their vibrations. It was incredible, and greatly missed.
In the midst of my work, I decided to create a custom bee template to add some character and whimsy to the piece.
During the process other “Bee” pieces were created from “scraps”. These are just a few….
